THE REDCOATS ARE COMING…THE RECOATS ARE COMING!

The Ponce is coming to Charleston April 8-11.

This will be the biggest Ponce ever with 40 players. (20 from the United States and 20 from Great Britain)

The previous record was 2018 in Royal St. George’s and Sunningdale, when 32 players competed (16 vs. 16)

Ponce Founder and Chairman Emeritus will chair his first tournament since the inaugural back in 2003 in his hometown of Charleston.

This year’s lineup is one for the ages. The first three rounds are on Kiawah Island at Cougar Point (Gary Player), Turtle Point (Jack Nicklaus) and The Ocean Course (Pete Dye). The final round of Singles will take place at Seth Raynor’s Yeamans Hall Club.

The 40 players will play 50 matches over 4 rounds: 10 matches of foursomes in Round 1, 10 matches of four ball each in Rounds 2 & 3 and 20 Singles matches in Round 4. 25.5 points will win the cup and 25 will retain the cup for Great Britain.

U.S. Captain – Isaac Morton
U.K. Captain – Ali Spry

This is the 4th edition of the International PDL series and the second in the United States. Team U.K. leads 2-1 in the series. Each of the three previous editions have been won by the home team. No visiting team has ever brought the Fountain of Youth Cup back across the pond.

The Yanks came agonizingly close in 2018 when the Brits emerged from a bare-knuckle, knockdown dragon by one point.
